When you envision the Maldives you probably think only of the azure waters, the bungalows on stilts over the water, the pristine white sands or the palms gently curved from the wind. In all honesty, prior to our arrival those were the only images we had in our heads as well. Most tourists to the Maldives even finish their vacations there with the same images in their minds and on their memory cards.
However, unlike most tourists, we were fortunate enough to experience the local life in the Maldives. It was amazing, we loved it and it deserves as much attention as any of their white sand beaches or azure waters.
